the game look fancy and that should be enough to sell it on to the average person. 2 things here Firstly, developers then did the same as now - used licences and flashy graphics to sell a game - duds were just as common if not even more so. I was a school kid through the megadrive years and only really went for your high profile games so i wouldn`t know or can`t remember the amount of crap games that came out. I still don`t think the duds compare to todays standards though as the industry is far bigger. Secondly, the market is different now - there are 'non gamers' buying games and that means that some games are made 'differently' to cater for that market (mostly PSX _title_s!!) There's a lot of 'rose tinted specs' stuff going on here tho! Agreed, but there is the odd exception on the PS mainly iss, MGS and gran turismo. Games ARE better now - no doubt about it - but that doesn't mean older games aren't fun too. I missed out in my topic the overall opinion but i would say overall like you today games are far better basically due the freedom developers have with the machines and bigger budgets. But each generation have there fair share of classics I'm not going back to Phantasy Star 2 anytime soon - but I'll be in PSO tomorrow as usual! I will see you there hopefully
