I am trying to find out the name of a mystery writer that either (this may sound silly) uses her cats to help write the stories or the character in the books uses cats to solve the mystery.  Can someone please post the writers name and any _title_s that they know.  Thanks so much! Marie

Her name is Lillian Braun.  All of her books start out with The Cat Who. . .  These mysteries feature a journalist named Jim Qwilleran and his two Siamese:  KoKo and YumYum.  KoKo is the brilliant male who helps Jim solve mysteries, YumYum is the spunky one who likes to play with Jim's moustache.  There are many books; some were written in the 1960's and most have been written in the 1980's and 90's.  These are the ones I can remember:                 The Cat Who Could Read Backwards                 The Cat Who Saw Red                 The Cat Who Went Underground                 The Cat Who Knew Shakespeare                 The Cat Who Had Nine Tales (short stories)                 The Cat Who Sniffed Glue                 The Cat Who Ate Danish Modern                 The Cat Who Lived High                 The Cat Who Knew A Cardinal                 The Cat Who Played Brahams                 The Cat Who Moved Mountains Happy Reading! There are two series of mysteries that I know of to use cats. First is Lillian Jackson Braun's series The Cat Who ..... Second are two books by Rita Mae Brown, told from the viewpoint of a cat.  The first one is called, Wish You Were Here.  It takes place in Crozet, Va, just 10 miles from where I sit now. <grin

Marie This is Rita Mae Brown, and her cat's name is Sneaky Pie Brown. Sneaky Pie is coauthor to Rita Mae's two mystery stories (so far). I haven't read the second one yet, but the first was called Wish You Were Here and is about a postmistress in Crozet, VA and her extremely talented pets, one cat and one dog, who probably do more to solve the mystery than the human characters. Rita Mae lives in Crozet...or rather just outside of it...and Crozet is about 13 mi. west of Charlottesville. If you like cats and/or mysteries, try to find these.

There's another one; Rita Mae Brown has written two Mrs. Murphy mysteries, _Wish You Were Here_ and _Rest in Pieces_. Mrs. Murphy is a cat who narrates the books and helps her pet solve the mysteries. Great books! I also have a whole book of cat mystery short stories called Cat Crimes , if I remember correctly. Lots of well-known authors, and some really good stories. If anyone needs more detailed info on any of these books, let me know and I'll dig them out at home. Laura Spencer & Kate
